Tribute to Deacon Oreitan Oluwole Apampa, 1922 - 2020

Baba Apampa was my late father’s mentor, senior at BBHS and one ofthe partners of the original Western Chemists Opticians Ltd

Papa loved my dad as a brother and embrassed him and my mum when they first arrived in England in 1955.

Personally, i have enjoyed the love and care of Baba and Mama on multiple occasions. His mission was to create a united front for us all the time. Thank you sir for all you did for our family

As in-laws, my senior sister's husband's father (can you work that out?) was a quiet man who sought to help without the grand stand.

The same modest quality is certainly seen in his children.

I am ever grateful to him for sponsoring the band from Idikan Baptist church to play at my wedding evening part. A really melodious affair.

May the melody he sowed that night in the early days of our marriage, that God has amplified to this day, be the experience in all the family he left behind.

Lots, lots to be grateful for.

We recently lost our dearest uncle, Deacon Apampa.  He was our dad's best friend and like a dad to us, especially when dad was in England.  Uncle was a man of timber and calibre, a paragon of virtue, kind, so strong, bold, jovial, a rare larger-than-life kind of character a practising Christian always willing to go the extra mile helping the poor and needy.

We will always remember the kind smile.  In fact he was a dynamic character that supported our whole family in thick and thin.  Such a large loss has created a vacuum, one that suffocates us every time we think of him.  He served Christ throughout his active life in Church as a Deacon.  Our assurance is that he is with Christ smiling over us.  May the Lord Almighty please comfort the Apampa family. AMEN.

AKINTUNDE FAMILY

In a predominantly Muslim family, many of us were growing up in the religion we were born into. Only daddy was a known and practicing Christian. His life and family life was, to many of us, a role model. Right from our childhood, we saw Jesus Christ in him: loving and articulate in relating with the rest members of the family. I will categorically say that, many of us who are now Christians knew daddy before we come to know Jesus. His life preached the gospel of Christ to us.

Secondly, daddy was so dutiful. Some of us learn punctuality from him. Daddy was very meticulous and straight in his dealings. He manifested unusual wisdom whenever you listened to him solve your problem. 

Daddy helped many of us in the family either education or job seeking. Always willing to help and always supportive.

Finally, daddy  was a family man per excellence. I remember during Ileya festival, usually daddy and mummy will arrive with their children as a family. Some of us learned close family relationship from him as our father.

Daddy love the Author and Finisher of our Faith, Jesus Christ to the end. He always listened to Christian Ministers' messages on cable most time we visited him.

Our joy is that daddy loved and served Jesus Christ to end well and finished strong.
